You can easily assess the condition of lead-acid (VLA and VRLA), NiCd, and lithium-ion batteries with the BITE5 and BITE5 Advanced battery testers. When used in conjunction with a load bank, both devices offer impedance testing and discharge testing and include an intuitive touch-screen interface. With the BITE5 Advanced, you can test parallel strings without segmenting and keep an eye on batteries and cells while they recharge. You can test modules up to 200 V with the BITE5 and up to 500 V with the BITE5 Advanced.
Cell impedance, cell voltage, ripple voltage, AC ripple current, and DC float current are among the measurement possibilities offered by the BITE5. All of these tests are supported by the BITE5 Advanced, which additionally has a feature for precisely measuring inter-cell (strap) resistance.
You can specify voltage and impedance pass, warning, and fail limits for impedance tests. Measurements are taken during the entire discharge or recharge duration for discharge tests and recharge tests using only the BITE5 Advanced. The instrument’s touch screen may show trends, and stored results can be downloaded for additional analysis and preservation via an SD card or USB cable. Additionally, data can be wirelessly transferred to Megger’s PowerDB software suite.
You can use the BITE5 and BITE5 Advanced to measure solar combiner boxes and verify the input and output voltages of inverters used in renewable power systems because they both allow voltage measurement up to 1000 V DC and 600 V AC. The BITE5 Advanced’s RFID tag reader is an extra feature that enables asset recognition without the need for manual data entry.
